Never Look Back

Thats a line I have seen in some of the Camino guide books, I have certainly heard people on the Camino say it and I have seen it on walls out on the Camino. Never look back. Its something I still do quite a lot, I suppose its something we all do. Reflect, regret, be embarrased, be angry, wish we could change the past. By the end of my Camino I had certainly decided to leave the past in the past, I have done quiet well but every now and then there it is. I think about those places on the Camino that I wish just one more night could have been spent at, but the need to keep moving to follow the path was always there. I think that is when my understanding of that phrase became real. Once you have made a decision to get up and move, move. Its too late on the road to wish you were back where you came from, be happy and comfortable with your decision because regret will not change anything. You cannot change what is done, take your path and be comfortable in where it takes you, and if your not change paths. But never look back.

I mean I'm pretty new to this whole blogging thing but I believe we should all support each other, right?

I agree we shouldn’t look back with regret or shame or anger, but we do need to reflect on the past to learn from it. Isn’t that the base for psychotherapy? Just a thought 😊

Yes I do agree with you on that. I also agree that we need to learn from the past. I think perhaps I should have mentioned that there is nothing wrong with learning from the past.
