A totally amazing walk today. The 600 metre climb is not one I will forget in a very long time. It was a beautiful but cold 8 am start, working our way on road to the path that lead us to the pass leading up to Roncesvalles. We were engulfed within the woods quiet quickly, wending our way from fairly wide paths onto rickety wooden bridges. Then onto paths that started leading up ever up, they were so narrow at points that putting one foot in front of the other was difficult. Believe me it was a struggle to put one foot in front of the other, and that was because of the challenging climb. We met James also from our group further up, we travelled the rest of the way to Roncesvalles together and on to tonights stop. We even found time on the way to stop take our socks and shoes off and dip our feet in probably the coldest stream ever. My feet tingled for an hour after.
Sounds invigorating and lush. Can’t wait for the next instalment.
