A rest day/ on the road less travelled.

Today is or was supposed to be a rest day, we started at a very leisurely pace. We wondered around Estella doing the little thing that often need doing, Hans and Kate both needed hats. Kate and I both bought compeed ( blister plasters) me because I need them Kate to appease the blister gds so that she continues not to get blisters. We eventually meandered out of Estella and started a really lovely hike. Stopping at a winery Irrachi where for free pilgrims can get wine on tap. Hans tried the wine, we cheered him on. We then followed a less travelled road winding and climbing through woods to a village called Loquin. On the walk I hit a personal wall, 4 new blisters and very hot feet burning from all of the walking. I certainly struggled to maintain some level of emotional control. But bliss or should I say Kate and Hans waiting with cold drinks and a bag of ice for my feet. We, the three of us are so far and probably are going to be the only Pelegrinos in the village tonight. We have the entire Alburgue to ourselves. So showered fed and for the first time since I started, I slept this afternoon. I remember saying to my Father that I refused to take one step in pain and would rather come home. Off course I am not the first or the last Pilgrim who will deal with blisters, knee or foot pain. I am also begining to realise, that this is also wrapped up in a huge amount of emotional baggage and that giving up and coming home will not solve anything. But there is nothing wrong with stopping for a day or two to rest and recuperate.
